RainTree launches new cloud-based analytics portal for pharmaceutical industry

RainTree Oncology Services and Information Builders have launched OncoExplorer, a new cloud-based analytics portal that offers unprecedented decision-support capabilities to pharmaceutical companies.

OncoExplorer is the latest addition to the RainTree Analytics suite of products. Information Builders’ iWay integration and integrity products have been used by RainTree Oncology Services to implement the patient index, data cleansing engine, and data warehouse.

RainTree Analytics also used Information Builders’ WebFOCUS BI and analytics platform for creating the portal presentation layer and analytics workbench.

According to RainTree Oncology Services, insights derived from OncoExplorer will improve cancer treatment by helping researchers develop clinical and pharmaceutical protocols, leading to better outcomes for patients.

The new cloud-based analytics portal provides clinical and administrative information about the use of oncology medications, along with HIPAA-compliant access to electronic medical record data, pharmacy dispense data, selected lab data, and claims adjudication summaries.

Longitudinal reports let users follow the patient treatment journey and drill down into clinical patterns and patient treatment pathways.

RainTree Oncology Services’ OncoExplorer and related analytic applications allows researchers to trace the complete oncology patient history, from the time of initial diagnosis to the present day.

Using Information Builders’ iWay Master Data Suite, all patient data is scrubbed, filtered, and stripped of any personal identifiers according to HIPAA and HITECH guidelines. Drug manufacturing firms can purchase subscriptions to review the data or export it for their own analysis.

RainTree CEO Mike Martin noted that by leveraging the data warehouse, the company can help payers understand optimum treatment regimens, by disease state, all while maintaining the utility and security of patient information.

"This knowledge can be applied throughout our membership to promote best practices about how to treat various forms of cancer," Martin added.
