iCardiac acquires nSpire Health’s clinical trials division

iCardiac Technologies, a global provider of cardiac safety assessment services to the pharmaceutical industry, announced today that it has added leading respiratory and ePRO services to its suite of offerings through the acquisition of the clinical trials division of nSpire Health.

As part of the transaction, iCardiac has also opened a new office in Longmont, Colorado to accommodate the project management, data management, customer support, IT, technology development and business development teams that are joining iCardiac from nSpire Health.

nSpire Health has conducted over 225 clinical trials during the past decade, providing centralized spirometry, pulmonary diagnostics, challenge testing, eDiary and data management services for Phase I-IV studies. It has worked with over 5,400 investigative sites in 55 countries.

"iCardiac and nSpire have worked side-by-side as closely-integrated partners for over five years and on over 20 clinical trials", said Alex Zapesochny, president & CEO of iCardiac.

"That working relationship confirmed for us that the people, solutions and technologies of nSpire are second-to-none. It also made the decision to join forces with nSpire’s clinical trials division an easy one as iCardiac sought to expand our capabilities to better serve the growing demand for respiratory and inhaled therapeutics programs for asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis and other indications."

"Customers will experience numerous advantages and efficiencies from sourcing their cardiac safety, respiratory and ePRO services all from the same leading vendor," said John Sage, who served as Senior Vice President of nSpire Health’s clinical division and will continue to lead respiratory and ePRO service operations at iCardiac. "Both current and future customers will benefit greatly from this combination of two service-oriented, technology-centered organizations."

With the sale of its clinical trials division, nSpire Health will focus on developing and expanding its commercial healthcare business and will also serve as an equipment supplier to iCardiac for clinical trials applications.

No financial terms of the deal were disclosed. The transaction is effective immediately.
